[post_content] => Digital transformation has completely changed the business and the sales pitch. The introduction of touch-enabled tablets, a new version of the sales book for sales reps, is a real success, and for good reason! But how can they improve their sales performance? SalesApps tells you more.

How to choose a good sales book for sales reps ?

The tablet is undoubtedly a tool for improving the productivity of your sales teams, whether for sales prospecting or sales meetings. Whether as a sales book, for your sales presentations, as an automatic link between your sales and marketing teams, or as a training aid and back-up for the sales information needed by your sales teams... No wrong decision here. In fact, a tablet will always be a tool that multiplies the efficiency of your sales teams! At least, as long as it comes with the right applications. It's just a question of finding the right hardware, and above all the right hardware for the job in hand. While it may be tempting to base your choice of tablet (iPads and iPhones, for example) on your phone fleet, the choice of this investment should be based on specific criteria:

iPad: user experience, design and quality

The iPad is certainly at the top end of the tablet market. With a range that is regularly renewed, the iPad offers numerous possibilities for (almost) all budgets. From theiPad mini for the compact version, at Air 2 model for excellent value for money, right up to the pro range with increased computing power and specific accessories such as a stylus or keyboard. Apple certainly offers many choices for professionals, as well as excellent sales book options for sales reps.

Why succumb to the iPad?

If the perceived quality is beyond doubt, with a highly mastered user experience, an iPad will always make an impression on a customer. In itself, it's already a sales aid. Featuring an ecosystem integrating numerous applications, its connectivity is simple and easy to use, and numerous accessories are available to suit your needs. Although Apple's communication is always focused on the latest iPad, its range is wider than you might think. What's more, older models are excellent value for money. Last but not least, Apple's mastery of software and hardware integration, combined with a highly robust operating system, ensures longevity and quality support.

Why hesitate?

Price, of course. It's a real discriminating factor, and quality, perceived or real, has a cost. An iPad will always be bought "as is", with no real possibility of physical memory expansion, for example. A beautiful object, but "all in one", for which you'll need to anticipate its use and operation.

Android: versatility, price and choice

Android tablets offer buyers plenty of choice. The mobile operating system is produced by Google, and the tablets by multiple independent manufacturers (from Samsung to Sony, including Asus, Huawei and Lenovo, to name but a few). This strategy offers an unrivalled choice! From ultra-low-cost to very high-end, with numerous screen size and functionality options. Most Android tablets offer a host of different connectivity options. Whether for file transfers with USB or micro SD, or for video presentations with HDMI, micro HDMI or MHL. Even if performance and technical capabilities are relative, depending on the product. This last point is particularly important for sales presentations by your sales teams.

Why succumb to an Android tablet?

Numerous configuration options and a wide range of choices ensure maximum compatibility with your basic needs. Some Android tablets offer excellent value for money, and some manufacturers are putting a lot of effort into building high-end products that would have nothing to envy Apple. Android tablets are generally modular in design, with the possibility of adding extra memory or accessories, well supported by a robust OS.

Why hesitate?

Because every tablet is very different, it can be complicated to make the right choice. Some tablets have real technical limitations. There's a real gap between these and the more powerful tablets. You'll need to explore multiple options before finding the right one. Not to mention that some products don't fully integrate the Android ecosystem, and the perceived image is often rather low-end. Projection connectivity is highly fragmented and not very ergonomic, and the multiplicity of brands doesn't help you find the right accessories for your tablets. What's more, not all accessories are compatible? As a result, it is sometimes necessary to plug them into the mains, limiting mobility and ease of use. Finally, Android is highly fragmented, making it difficult to manage models and versions. As a result, you sometimes have to wait several months before a manufacturer authorizes an update on its device. Not to mention the fact that some versions may not be compatible with your tablet. The question of support is therefore crucial, especially if you have a limited IT department or don't want to overload it.

Microsoft Surface: a sales book for sales reps ?

Microsoft signs its arrival on the market of the professional touch tablets with the Surface. It offers a very interesting differentiating solution with its tablet/touch computer duality, which makes it a hybrid model. This has an impact on its cost, its perceived image and the user experience.

Why succumb to the Surface?

Clearly suited to a Windows infrastructure, the Surface is a perfect solution for combining the best of both worlds. A full-featured computer, with Office 365 suite applications for example, and a more mobile approach with a touch-sensitive tablet. The image of quality and robustness is well and truly present, and Windows 10 regulars will never be lost. The Surface can even replace a laptop for certain functions, thanks to its sophisticated connectivity and native software. With or without keyboard, with or without stylus, it runs Office and Windows to perfection.

Why hesitate?

A latecomer to the tablet market, the Surface suffers from a smaller marketplace than Apple and Android for its native applications. Both a computer and a tablet, it is larger than a traditional tablet, but also a little heavier. Windows 10, like its predecessors Windows 8 and 8.1, can feel a little cumbersome at first, and the user experience doesn't always remain optimal. With a fairly high overall price, its half-tablet, half-computer positioning limits the tactile effect in the relationship with the customer and, therefore, the overall integration of the product into the presentation. To sum up, while the choice of a tablet is important, the most important thing is that it adapts perfectly to the work of your sales teams. The effectiveness of your presentation and sales book for sales reps is indeed a major point. The software suite is therefore an important criterion. It's all about finding the right balance to ensure you get the best possible support to boost your business!
